Hi there, I’m Yvonne Halling, the owner of the Bed and Breakfast Owners Group on Facebook and I want to warmly welcome you to our lively and diverse, international community

Whether you’re still in the planning stages, just opened or you’re a seasoned owner, you’re here because you want to know how to create and run your dream B&B business, so that you have the freedom you desire, are in full control of your own business and life and can give free reign to your creative vision.

You want to create and enjoy a safe, secure and relaxing B&B, so that your guests can truly unwind and refresh their sense of life lived well, and that you and they can enjoy a secure, relaxing haven from the outside world, and your family and you can have a secure future – financially, materially and even spiritually.

And, you want to create and run a welcoming, cozy B&B that you can manage well, so that your guests feel welcome, comfortable and feel really well looked after, enjoying a feeling of family during and after their stay, and your family and loved ones are happy, secure and together.

Here, I’m going to show you exactly how to do all of that, quickly, easily and with less work than you may be thinking or even experiencing right now

If you were to decide you wanted to be a teacher for example, you wouldn’t just rock up to a school one day and say “hey, I’m here to teach the kids”.  You’d enrol in college and you’d invest time and money becoming a professional teacher so that people would hire you.

The same is true for running a B&B, and although you might think now or have thought in the past, well how hard can it be?  The truth is, there is way more to it than making nice rooms, cooking a great breakfast and chatting to guests, although that is all very important

Things you must learn, if you’re going to succeed, not get burned out and waste all your time, money and energy doing stuff that won’t make you or your guests happy, over the long term

Trust me, I had to learn this, the hard way.

So here’s an overview of what you’ll need to learn and implement to have the business and lifestyle you desire

There are 4 key elements to it…

  • Strategy
  • Structure
  • Systems
  • Scale

Let’s take each one in turn

Strategy – Your online presence

If you want this business to work for you, you’ll need to be different from everyone else, as you are already as a human.  You’ll need to own your difference and charge for it.  Anyone can make a room pretty, advertise it on any one of the dozens of online booking sites and wait for the bookings to come in.   And therein lies the danger.  The market is flooded with people doing this, and turning themselves into what we call “meat market” commodities where they’re competing with each other, mainly on price.  As a professional owner you won’t be doing this.

Instead, you’ll be positioning yourself for your market of ideal guests only, who choose you because of your difference and will happily pay your higher rates, and rave about you.

Then with your ideal guests in mind, you’ll create a brand and message that resonates with the hearts and minds of your ideal guests, drawing them towards you and into your world.

Next is Structure – your offline experience

Once you’re clear on who you want to welcome and why they’re choosing you, you will create an exceptional experience for them at your property, that delights them, your team, your bank account and you

Third is Systems – your “back end” engine

Most hosts are brilliant at Structure – welcoming people and making them feel comfortable.  Unfortunately too many of them don’t understand the concept of having systems in place

This goes way further than just your online reservations system.

Your systems will produce extra revenue, direct bookings whenever you want them and new guests booking with you, mostly automated, so once they’re set up, you don’t have to do very much, except keep delivering your amazing service to guests you love and watch your bank account grow

Finally Scale – adding even more delight

When you’ve got your business running like a well-oiled machine, you’ll be able to let your creativity run wild and you’ll have the infrastructure to add more income streams and delights for you and your guests.  Maybe you want to do group retreats, weddings, parties, or maybe you just want to write your own recipe book.  Anything can be added on at this stage.

So now you know the fundamentals of a B&B business that works for you, your guests and your bank account, and that will serve you well into your future, for as long as you want it

Thank you for your attention

Yvonne
