Why is that?
Change isn’t easy, let’s face it. We love to cling to our patterns, behaviours and our ways, even if they don’t work just because it’s familiar to us.
Even if, deep down, we know that it has to happen.
Five years ago my life was VERY different to how it is now. Back then I was living in fear of the bank coming to take our home away, not able to pay the gas bill, and not even having enough money for food.
I sat on the back step to the garden one day, and I thought to myself, how did this happen? How could we have gone from living the “champagne dream”, big salary, lots of exotic holidays, secure pension etc. to practically penniless in less than 5 years.
I knew things had to change but I was afraid. Afraid I wouldn’t make it, that friends and family who sort of supported me, would shake their heads and say, I knew she couldn’t do it. She was always a failure.
But I knew in my heart that I had to make a change. I just knew that I’d come to the end of the road with how things had been.
I knew things had to change, and that it was up to me to make it happen.
I’d love to tell you how easy it was, how everything I did worked just great and we all lived happily ever after. It wasn’t quite like that.
The worst part was realising that my marriage was over and then telling our daughters.
Then, the hard work and long hours to build my little bed and breakfast business from nothing into something that would support me and the girls. At the time, I didn’t know that this was even possible, but I had to try.
Turned out that, not only was it possible, but that I did it!
But it wasn’t easy. I had to stop playing small. I had to overcome my fears and embrace change. I had to get out of my comfort zone.
Your change might be in the way you’re running your business, or finding new ways to get in front of your ideal guests, or put your prices up, or make more money, or just simply relax more.
But if you don’t make your move, your life and your business will most likely stay the same.
You’ll keep playing small.
The danger is you’ll just feed into your fears and stay stuck.
The biggest gift you can give yourself is to open your mind to the possibilities of a much BIGGER life and being the person you really want to be.
A great adventure lies ahead of you.
If you’re ready and willing to embrace change you can make it happen.
